Caroline Neville

  • Based on Ada Maria Clarke

  • Born on December 14th, 1883 in Netley near Southampton, Hampshire, England, the middle of 5 children to laborers 

  • She was briefly employed as a kitchen maid at Rownhams House under a wealthy family

  • She married Charles Valentine Clarke (played by Sean Hodges) on June 29th, 1908, a dairyman from Cosham, Hampshire and they had no children

  • The pair boardedthe  Titanic at Southampton with a £26 ticket. (£3,800, $4,700 today) headed for San Francisco, California

  • Charles died in the sinking and a memorial service was held for him in Hampshire.

  • Ada survived, escaping in lifeboat 14. Now a widow, she returned to Britain where she remained before passing in 1953, her gravestone commemorates her husband.

  • Born November 9th, 1872, and from Haverford, Pennsylvania 

  • She was married to John B. Thayer (played by Max Braunstein) and they had 2 daughters and 2 sons (one of whom, Jack Thayer, accompanied

  • They boarded as first-class passengers with a £110 ticket (£16,000, $19,800 today) and they stayed in Cabin C-68

  • Their son went to investigate when the collision occurred and the family got dressed and went to the deck 

  • She was put in lifeboat 4, separated from her husband who died on the ship

  • Later lifeboats 4 and 12 would meet up and save passengers, 12 took on Mrs. Thayer’s son, Jack from the overturned Collapsible B but she did not see him sitting in lifeboat 4

  • Instead, they were reunited on the Carpathia

  • After they went back to Haverford, she never remarried, did not claim the loss of her husband’s life but did claim the loss of luggage

  • She died on April 14th, 1944
